Farm Crew Member

About Us
We are a small, queer worker-owned cooperative farm located in Manor, TX. We grow high-quality vegetables and herbs for Austin’s restaurants and home cooks, and meaningfully redistribute excess produce through community partnerships. We intentionally center and value workers’ individual and collective contributions, and we aim to create an accessible path to cooperative farm ownership.
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated, community-minded individual to join our crew. The Farm Crew Member plays a key role in all aspects of farm production, from seed to harvest, and may participate in sales, deliveries, admin, social media and community events. Candidates with an interest in cooperative farm ownership will be prioritized. This is a hands-on position that requires physical stamina, flexibility, and a willingness to engage in the day-to-day work of a dynamic small farm.
Responsibilities
Experience with some or all of the following is preferred but not required:
Field Work
Bed preparation, transplanting, seeding, weeding, irrigating, and cultivating
Pest and disease monitoring and management using organic practices
Harvesting & Post-Harvest
Harvesting vegetables with care and efficiency
Washing, sorting, and packing produce for markets and wholesale accounts
Greenhouse & Nursery Care
Seeding trays, monitoring germination, watering, controlling temperature, maintaining fans and greenhouse heater, maintaining and ensuring safety of all electronics
Infrastructure & Maintenance
Basic upkeep of tools, equipment, wash/pack area, and field structures
Mechanical repairs and maintenance of tractor, tractor tools and farm truck
Plumbing repairs and maintenance of irrigation systems
Electrical repairs as needed
Farmers Markets
Occasional involvement in weekend farmers markets
Admin & Bookkeeping
Maintaining organized records of all purchases and sales
Optional involvement in all administrative and bookkeeping duties
Social Media
Optional involvement in social media marketing
Team & Cooperative Participation
Participation in team meetings, feedback processes, and cooperative decision-making

Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly
Comfort working outdoors in extreme heat, rain, or cold
Ability to bend, squat, kneel, and stand for long periods
Reliable transportation to and from the farm in Manor, TX
Work Schedule
20–40 hours/week (Dependent on full-time or part-time)
Occasional weekend availability preferred (for market shifts and/or watering responsibilities)
Compensation & Benefits
$21/hour starting wage
Produce from the farm
Access to worker-ownership track after completion of first season
